New Route

It’s hard to keep from getting bored when you’re running the same route over and over. During the week, between the time constraints I put on myself as well as availability, it’s easy to just stop wanting to get out there and run the same thing. Even running the route in reverse gets to you after a while. When I say availability, it’s not that there’s a lack of distance. I run on Cherry Creek Trail… there’s all the distance I can handle. It goes all the way to downtown Denver, if I wanted to do that (I don’t). The availability I’m looking for is the kind that lets me run along a path with little backtracking.

I wound through the neighborhood a little bit today — that’s always a gamble with the way people drive. It didn’t add as much mileage as I’d hoped, but it did wonders for breaking up the boredom. I’ve nearly doubled the distance I was running last summer — that’s kind of crazy for me to think about.
